1. Golf carts and Utility Terrain Vehicles (UTVs) are permitted on campus during all district events. The use of All-terrain Vehicles (ATVs) is strictly forbidden for all events with the exception of those used for maintenance purposes.
a. District events include, but are not limited to, Camps, Campground Workdays, and any other function authorized by the district board.
b. Duration includes any transition period between events.
2. All operators must be twenty-one (21) years of age or older and possess a valid driver’s license.
3. For safety reasons, children and students registered as campers at all camps are prohibited from riding on golf carts/UTV’s, other than for temporary transportation for medical purposes and unless riding with their parent/guardian or a camp official.
4. Golf carts/UTV’s shall not be operated with more passengers than its designed capacity.
5. All operators using a personal golf cart must register the vehicle with the camp office (or District Office when applicable) before using the vehicle on campus.
a. The operator must obtain a copy of the Golf Cart/UTV Policy and sign a corresponding liability waiver.
b. The operator must submit proof of Liability Insurance for a minimum of $100,000 per occurrence for the vehicle to the camp office or District Office. Liability Insurance can be purchased for the vehicle directly from a variety of insurers who specialize in this area. (Proof of Insurance is not required for those using golf carts provided by the District for staff or employee usage.)
6. Golf Carts/UTV’s are not to be driven at unreasonable or excessive speeds, nor used in any type of racing, reckless behavior, or horseplay. When driving the units on roads, operators must yield to vehicles and pedestrians. Effort should be made to avoid driving through areas where large groups of children are walking or playing. Due to the high volume of pedestrian and vehicle traffic at district events, extreme caution must be always exercised.
7. Failure to comply with this policy will result in disciplinary action by the appropriate Camp Committee.
